  • 200 g bacon, cut into pieces (approx. 2 cm)
  • 500 g brown onion, cut into wedges (3-4 cm)
  • 40 g brandy
  • 100 g red wine
  • 150 g canned chopped tomatoes
  • 6 sprigs mixed fresh herbs (bouquet garni - see Tips)
  • 150 g liquid beef stock (see Tips)
  • 1 cob loaf (approx. 1000 g - see Tips)
