  • 2 ½ cm piece fresh galangal peeled
  • 220 g water
  • 80 g vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp tamarind paste
  • 200 g tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 120 g brown onion cut into thin slices (5 mm)
